Vehicle Interference/Damage Marston Close

Dear Resident

Between 29th and 30th July a vehicle had been damaged which occurred in Marston Close

Victim stating he arrived home at 1025hrs on 30th and noticed glass on the driveway floor. He realised his vehicle has the rear drivers side quarter light window smashed. He checked his CCTV and saw two males attempting to steal the vehicle. They approached the vehicle and put gloves on. They damaged the vehicle by means unknown, to gain entry and got into the vehicle but because he had a ghost immobiliser they were unable to switch the ignition on and drive it away. The males exited the vehicle and made off on foot.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

  • Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.
  • Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle
  • When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.
  • Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.
  • Remove your satnav and holder and wipe away suction marks which could indicate that a satnav is stored in your vehicle.
  • Be aware of your keys.  Don’t leave them lying around, visible or in pockets in changing rooms where they could be taken.  Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox.
  • Register your valuables on www.immobilise.com.
  • Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.
  • Secure number plates with anti-theft screws.
  •

Please be vigilant and report any suspicious activities in the area.

If you need to report a crime please call 101 or go online here.
